Scritta di getto, sul finire dell’autunno, esasperati per l’invasione delle cimici nello studio, Squash the bug è diventata la metafora delle nostre paure e delle nostre insicurezze. Il desiderio di liberarci da ciò che ci dà fastidio e noia.
La ritmica incalzante e leggera del brano, nelle strofe, sostiene l’allegria spensierata e libertina di una mente agile, ma i bei tempi si sa, non durano in eterno, ed ecco, quell’eco-parassita ematofago fastidioso che si insinua nelle tue emozioni, rendendole oppresse.
La detonazione Sonora del ritornello indica l’ira funesta, scatenata dalla presa di coscienza di ciò che sta succedendo e il volersi liberare a tutti i costi da questa tirannia.
